REASONS TO BLOG-An Introduction

Olive Riley was the world's oldest blogger until 12 th July this year.At 108 years she had a great following because of her blog,www.allaboutolive.com.au.
She was introduced to the internet at age 104 and had as much as 350,000 visitors to her blog this January 2008.Quite a community built that kept poring out condolences.
Celebrities like Aamir Khan,Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachhan were in the news lately for their recent introduction to the world of blogging.
I have often been looked at strangely when I say I blog in my spare time. It is only when I send them links to my blogs, they begin to appreciate and wonder. As one dear friend put it, "So this is what you have been upto all these days and suddenly surprised us all." Now, I have several asking me to guide them in setting up their own blogs. Each has a passion in life. Some have hobbies to write about. Some are engaged in some activity or events that they want the world to know about. I often meet retired men and women who look for some meaningful activity to look forward to every day. They were all experts in their field and some even offer consultancy services in their chosen field today. They want to pass on the knowledge and experiences gained, but are not aware of how they can reach out globally.
A mother recently commented that she chats or mails her daughter in the United States regarding easy-to-follow traditional Indian recipes. A gentleman in church asked me if he could use the blogging platform to upload his award winning photo collection taken over the years. A veterinarian who retired from the Indian Council Of Agricultural Research and is now a consultant for several countries in monitoring animal diseases was impressed yesterday that he could utilize this to make his ideas known to the world. A teacher in a well known school wanted to set up her very own blog in order to showcase her children's activities. A social worker preferred to highlight atrocities against domestic help. Another friend wanted to set up a travel blog to keep posting about her experiences in Europe while on holiday.
Readers from all over the world can access your posts(articles) and even subscribe to your blogs. If you have a passion for helping people in niche areas, such as parenting or financial management, all the better. People search for various information on the net and they could find your content useful. You will also engage yourself and do not ever get depressed or bored. There are several kinds of blogs these days. Business blogs are being used greatly by company CEO's to engage their clients and their own manpower for effective leadership and greater profits. Personal blogs of celebrities are famous, while social bloggers engage their readers on some form of social evil that needs to be eradicated. Environmental changes and news items are dissected and laid bare. Politicians are not spared. Reviews are written and rewritten, motivating readers to buy a product or not to visit a restaurant. One can have any number of blogs these days. You can even upload photos, videos, podcasts to support your articles.
